Campout Birthday Party

Let me first warn that there is a mass amount of pics with this blog!:) I had over 200 to choose from so it was difficult to narrow down! This is my sons 7th Camping bday Party. I put up a "Camp" style sign that said "Welcome to Camp Tyson"

I need to also say that we had great weather during the party but did have 30 mph winds. Which for the perfectionist in me was a little difficult at first. Some of my "party ideas" just didn't happen and some had to be altered. However, in the end I think it turned out to be a fun party. Below is a pic of our food/ sweets table. It was an afternoon party so we did snack foods and lots of sweets!

Before we got started with any activities I had each "camper pick up a bag that had "Camp Tyson" on the front along with activity patches.

Kristie from Party paper creations created a party pack with bag toppers, water bottle labels, cupcake toppers etc. I used a 2" punch to cut out these tags and backed them with glitter paper and used simple raffia to tie them to the bags. I then wrote each child's name on the back so we could keep track of every ones loot!

I used an antique table and benches I had as the kids table. Moss covered mushrooms, grass table runner, metal grasshoppers, concrete squirrel and rocks served as the simple decor. In the background you can see the burlap I used to drape the tent. this is one of those modified ideas! I had ordered 75 yds to massively drape the tent but due to the wind we did good to drape this much!:)

I used an old cart with a grass runner, rocks, and a funky owl to serve as the "present stand". I covered a chair with an old burlap sack for the birthday boy to sit on while opening presents.

For the food table I had a two tiered camping birthday cakes, woodland cake pops, fudge cupcakes with woodland cupcake toppers and lots more!

Some more of the food table...The large frogs are Marshmallow treats and I created "Frogs on a Log" by using Ho Ho's and gummy frogs. There was also woodland sugar cookies and polka dotted shortbread cookies.

Here's a peak at the top of the cake.

I made "Mud Pies" by filling mini pies with cool whip, topping them with chocolate pudding and adding a few gummy worms.

I mixed a variety of woodland style cake pops to add to the outdoor theme.

Marshmallow frogs.

I also used a mix of woodland paper cupcake toppers to fudge cupcakes.

I used large ant planters to hold the plastic ware and napkins. This turned out to be great in the wind!

Part of Party Paper Creations party pack were these cute s'more bag toppers.

Woodland Party Camp Badges & Bag

I am preparing for my oldest son's birthday party in April. As I do different projects for the party I am going to share them and then at the end of this month I will show the party pics of how it all came together. I am creating badges for every activity that the kids do. I have to make 8 different badges but these are the first two I created. I used my cricut to cut the circles and characters out. But, if you don't have a cricut you can also use a 1 1/2" punch for the outer circle and a 1" or 1 1/4" punch for the inner circle. Then use stickers that coordinate with your own activities. In case you are wondering the turtle badge is actually for turtle races. Something we did as kids and I thought was so much fun. You rope off or draw a large square and give each child a numbered turtle. The kids then walk to the center, sit their turtles down and then stand outside of the square. The first turtle out of the square wins.

I am making the goody bags out of canvas bags, green felt, brown burlap and letters. I plan to then put a piece of Velcro on the back of each badge and a piece of Velcro onto the bag. This way they can attach their badges as they complete their activities. You can also use wide ribbon or fabric to create sashes. However, I figured a party for mostly boys at the age of 6-7 wouldn't function well with them running around in sashes!:)
The bag, still a work in progress. Stay tuned to see how it all comes together!

Woodland Forest Party

So, Tyson my six year old has decided that he wanted to scrap the Transformer party and opted for an outdoor/ Woodland party. So, I have been racking my brain and searching the web for great ideas to pull this off. I have all the games planned, the location ( renting a pavilion at the lake) and now working on decor. I wanted to share some of the great photos I have found of some amazing parties.

I love the use of moss and tree branches! Definitely will be incorporating that into our party. Be sure to check out karaspartyideas.blogspot.com for more amazing parties!

Cupcake holders like this can be found on etsy for around $30. Or for a more budget friendly option, create your owl!

The Woodland theme is a little difficult to find party supplies for. Get creative and create your own. The boxes can be found at any local craft or party store. Use a cricut ( which I purchased today) or embellish with stickers from your local craft store.

Love the use of wood for party trays! These can also be found on etsy along with wood place card holders, which I just ordered.
