Splash of Color Party

I know when we have a party coming up the biggest question is always what's the theme going to be?! I've even come up with the theme and then couldn't locate any supplies to go with the party. So, after receiving some of my Round Top Collection order, that I am planning to use on an upcoming party, I thought about showing how easy and fun it would be to do a party all about COLOR!

I Created pinwheel cupcake toppers from tulle, lollipop sticks, pinwheels and raffia ribbon. The napkin rings are available at Hobby Lobby (a 4 pack for $5). These can be a DIY project. 1) Curl grosgrain ribbon by wrapping it around a small dowel rod and then baking it in the oven for 10-20 min. 2) Cut approx 6-8 different color ribbons into 4 in strips. 3) Tie in the middle and attach to a metal napkin ring. PS...Yes, I've actually done this project! It's not just a crazy idea. Spraying the ribbon with spray starch will also help to really hold the curl! :)

I added a fun fabric flower to the center of each pinwheel just to make it stand out a little.

All the metal Party Decorations are from the Round Top Collection. I order an extra set of each to do in an upcoming give-away that I am very excited about. Look for ways to enter in two weeks!!

If you want to create your own splash of color cake check out this cake from http://www.hostessblog.com/. She gives step by step instructions on how to create your own.

I thought these Pom-Poms would add so much color and whimsy to a party. Look to my last blog on where to find step by step instructions on how to create these from nothing more than tissue paper! You can also find these available on etsy for sale.

I'm blogging from the road this week so bare with me! I'm very excited about all the upcoming projects in the next few weeks and can't wait to share them with you.

Vintage Inspired CIrcus Party

Well, I'm in the beginning stages of planning a circus party. I am doing Mock-Ups of each table...Sweets Table, Party Favor Table, Food & Drink Table, & Dining Tables. I wanted to share as I started with the sweets table.

I plan to create center pieces like the one I created below (my work in progress) with popcorn pales and cupcake covered styrofoam balls. I also used these vintage inspired liners to cover paper lanterns that I am planning to string on light strands.

I have to make approx 36 cupcake toppers like the ones pictured below. Made with crepe paper, loli-pop sticks and vintage Circus centers. ( available on www.maddysonslane.etsy.com)

I painted a 1950's table red & yellow to fit the theme. I am planning to paint about 10 more for the party.
I ordered these party hats from The Round Top Collection and plan to fill bags with cotton candy on a stick and then stick them in the hats.

Any thoughts or ideas? Share the with me! I have a week to complete mock-ups and a few months before the party,I love feedback or thoughts!

Spring Easter Tablescape

My spring/Easter Table

I used some of my favorite collections on my formal dining room table. The center stands are from the Round Top Collection and the Easter Angels are from Bethany Lowe.

For my place settings I used chargers and place mats from Hobby Lobby, Plates from Target, napkins and Napkin rings are from Pier 1, and silver ware from Dillard's.
My Bethany Lowe Angels atop my wire Round Top Pedestals

My antler Chandelier is normally a great fit for this room but needed some spring touches to lighten it up for springtime.

Planning for Easter

Although Easter seems to fall late this year, it will be here before we know it. After a long weekend of 22 family members staying at my house I am ready for some decorating therapy!! So, I am going to start pulling out the Easter Decorations. It's aways a challenge in a new house to figure out where everything will fit and look the best. I also have to start planning for my kindergarden and preschool kids parties as I am the room mom.
My gift bags and games will be in a future post. I already order their labels and gift bag tags from etsy and they turned out super cute!! But back to Easter planning decorationing. I always like to add to my decorations each year. Some of my favorite places to aquire new items are:
Hobby Lobby...They have really started caring some of the cutest decorations over the last fe years. You can get boutique inspired items at a fraction of the price. Plus each week they put some part of their holiday merchandise on sale. So, if its not on sale this week it will be next. I never pay full price for anything at Hobby Lobby! Next is Target...Yes it's normally hit and miss and not always cute but for those of us with kids there is no better place to stock up then target! For my plastic plates, kids place mats, gift bag fillers and other fun toys this is where I go. Also, everyone knows that the day after it is 1/2 price and if you have the storage space, stock up for next year!! As far as the kids bag fillers this is my favorite time. By the time I fill 40 bags it will cost a small fortune. So, I find ways to fill them for 1/2 the cost. Next is Etsy...for custom made or unique you can't find a better place. If you haven't checked out etsy.com you are missing out. I have bought things like custom boutique kids clothes, address labels, premade scrapbook albums, floral arrangements, pictures, etc. Next....Although these aren't stores, I love the lines of Round Top Collection, ESC, Raz And Bethany Lowe. Most of these can be found in online stores, local boutiques and even ebay. With that, I am off to start unpacking. Look for picture soon!
